Last month I attended two conferences in Canada, the first in Newfoundland and the second in Ottawa. I travelled from Newfoundland to Ottawa by plane to Montreal and then by train from Montreal to Ottawa. As boarding time approached at the airport, I started to get my passport and boarding pass ready for inspection. To my horror, I could not find my passport. I checked all my pockets and my carry-on bag very thoroughly, but still could not find it. I had passed through security and knew that it must be somewhere in the departure gate area. I rapidly went to all the places I had been, but there was no sign of the passport. At this stage I was starting to get very worried. It suddenly occurred to me to pray to Pedro and check my bag again. Hey presto, there it was. I have no idea how I didn’t find it the first time, as I had checked the bag very carefully. Pedro clearly wanted me to pray to him.
Some hours later I arrived at Ottawa train station, where a friend collected me in his car and drove me to my accommodation. As I arrived in my room, I realized that I did not have my mobile phone. Once again, I checked my pockets and bag, but there was no sign of the phone. I started to fear that I had left the phone on the train or at the information centre at the train station. Based on my previous experience, I decided to pray to Pedro straight away this time. I went back to my friend and asked if I could have a look in his car. To my surprise, there it was on the seat where I had been sitting. Panic over.
That was two related favours of Pedro on the same day. I imagine him chuckling at me from heaven, just as he did while he was alive.
